LMC certifies 13 Stadia for 2020/21 NPFL season games

  •Lists 11 others for upgrade/repairs Ahead of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season, and as part of the broader club licensing regime, 13 stadiums across the country have been certified by the League Management Company (LMC) to have met minimum requirements to host games. Another 11 were recommended for varying degrees of upgrade and repair works before they can be certified. This was communicated to the clubs in a memo that the LMC sent out on Friday, October 30. The memo read in part, "in line with the CAF Circular of July 26, 2020, on stadium infrastructure among others, which was forwarded to you and the need to meet up with the requirements of high-quality television production by our new partners, the LMC has reviewed various reports submitted on the state of our stadia across the country". NWFL holds DTMS Training/Seminar for Premiership clubs

The Nigeria Women Football League during the week organised the Domestic Transfer Matching System (DTMS) training / Seminar for the 16 Women Premiership clubs at the NWFL Corporate Secretariat in Abuja. The workshop for the Transfer Matching System aimed at monitoring the movement of players from one club to another was inundated and loaded with so much information that will enable the clubs do so much in securing their players from illegal movements across the world and also save money.  All the 16 NWFL Premiership clubs which participated in the training/seminar would have the information domiciled in their clubs and this would be managed by a dedicated trained manager.  The DTMS training/seminar was facilitated by Mr. Nasir Jibril, FIFA / CAF Certified DTMS resource person and was declared opened by the NWFL Chairperson, Aisha Falode.  The Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Ahmad Ahmad has confirmed his candidacy for re-election. Ahmad Ahmad, CAF President. The Malagasy football administrator submitted his candidacy to serve a second term in office when elections take place in March 2021. NWFL holds NWFL Premiership Draws in Abuja

The Aisha Falode-led Nigeria Women Football League on Wednesday in Abuja held the draws for the Nigeria Women Premiership league, which has been tentatively scheduled to kick-off across Nigeria on December 9, 2020, subject to the ratification of the Nigeria Football Federation. At the draws ceremony held at the conference room of the new NWFL Secretariat in Abuja, had representatives from all the 16 participating clubs in attendance. Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, Benin, Edo State to host Nigeria vs Sierra Leone AFCON qualifier.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has finally picked Benin as host city for next month’s 2021 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Sierra. The federation, which earlier said it was looking at either Benin or Asaba for the duel, at the weekend confirmed it will hold at the newly refurbished Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City. The match will be the first big event at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, which was refurbished for the Edo 2020 National Sports Festival. The stadium is the first to acquire Video Assistant Referee (VAR) gadget, a facility bought by the Edo State government ahead of the 2020 National Sports Festival. CAF signs partnership agreement with International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS)

A partnership agreement has been signed on 24 October 2020 between the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the International Center for Sport Security (ICSS), aimed at enhancing safety, security, integrity, and youth empowerment programs within African football. Ahmad Ahmad, CAF President with Mohammed HANZAB, ICSS Chairman during the partnership presentation. The agreement signed in Morocco, will see the two organizations work together to develop training programs and to ensure the highest level of safety and security within the CAF Member Associations. Super Eagles skipper Ahmed Musa is set to leave Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr FC.

Musa made 48 appearances and scored 10 goal while winning the Saudi League & Super Cup in 2019. Musa played for Kano Pillars in Nigeria between 2009-2012 where he made 25 appearance, scoring 18 goals between 2009-2012.  He moved to Holland to play for VVV Velno in 2012-2013 donning the club's jersey 37 times and scoring 8 goals for the Dutch outfit. He later played for CSKA Moscow in Russia before he moved to England in the summer of 2016 to sign for Leicester city for the club's record fee of £16.6m. The summary of that move would later be tag flop as Ahmed Musa was unable to find his bearing in the EPL where he was only managed to moster 2 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions for a period of 2 years.  Musa became an instant hit when he returned to Russia on loan in January 2018 scoring 6 goals in just 10 appearances. National Sports Festival not postponed indefinitely- Minister

News reports to the effect that the Edo  2020 National Sports Festival has been  postponed  indefinitely is false and unfounded as the Ministry has not made a final decision.  A statement by the Minister of Youth and Sports Development Media office clarified that consultations were on going between the Ministry, the Edo State Government, the PTF on Covid-19, and the National Council on Sports to decide on a new date to host the Festival. Governor Wike Pre-Season Tourney Gets Date

The 2nd edition of the Governor Wike Pre-Season Tournament will take place from 1st November to 10th November at Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt. The kick-off date was made known to newsmen by the General Coordinator of the tournament, Badawiy Bashir. The Kwara United General Manager stated further that arrival date for all teams will be Friday 30th October with accreditation and draws taking place a day later. The participating teams are Lobi Stars, Abia Warriors, Plateau United, Kwara United, Bendel Insurance and Rivers United.  Others are Gombe United, Remo Stars, Niger Tornadoes, Nasarawa United and Cynosure FC. Volleyball: Nigeria to host 2020 Girls U18 African Nations Championship

The Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) nominated Nigeria after witnessing series of developmental programs in the West Africa country. The Nigeria Football Federation has announced the appointment of Mr. Randy Waldrum as the new Head Coach of the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons.
