A Clarion Call to Sports Minister

A LETTER TO NIGERIA MINISTER OF YOUTH AND SPORTS.

Dear Mr Sunday Dare,

It is with utmost respect and with great humility, I am writing this letter, to first, appreciate you for a job well done since you were appointed Nigeria's minister of youth and sports.

I must say, that I am one of your biggest fans. My position has not changed and will not change.

I have followed your antecedents even before you became Nigeria sports minister and I knew from day one, that President Mohammadu Buhari has given Nigeria, a minister blessed with the intelligence and wisdom to excel in a ministry like sports, where the good, the bad and the ugly thrives.

So far, you have not performed below anyone's expectation as the accolades keep coming with every passing day.

However, the Anambra state football crisis, is looking more dicey by the day and we are disturbed that despite your directives, the electoral committee with full support from the state government and the Nigeria football federation are getting closer to conducting fresh elections in the state. This to me, is disrespecting constituted authorities.

Hon. Sunday Dare with NFF Chairman Electoral Committee and other stake holders from Anambra State FA during intervention meeting organised by the Sports Minister.

A meeting held at your office on Monday this week to resolve the lingering crisis in the state football association, left many with high hopes but till this day, we are surprised that the ministry is yet to come out with their verdict after consulting with all the parties involved.

This delay has brought up lots of insinuations and assumptions, knowing the antecedents of the NFF and the extent at which they go to manipulate justice.

I have always trusted your judgements and I have been at the forefront of promoting your good work. I will want to believe sir, that this delay has nothing to do with pressure from anyone or group, rather it is as a result of your determination, to look at this matter meticulously in a bid to finding a lasting solution.

As much as I and other journalists that are committed to seeing the end of this crisis, are willing to be patient and calm in the midst of these uncertainties, we are appealing that you use your good office to resolve this crisis amicably in the best interest of Nigeria football.

Please see this letter as a sincere appeal from a curious friend and read the content with a free mind.

I remain loyal and hopeful.

Sporting Regards

Bede Opara shines in Vilar de Perdizes Victory

Bede Opara stars in Vilar de Perdizes 8-1 victory. It was a goal feast for Vilar de Perdizes as they ran riot and pummeled GDC Salto 8-1 over the weekend in the Portuguese Pro-National league match. The match ended 1-1 in the 1st half but Vilar de Perdizes proves too strong for the visiting GDC Salto in the 2nd half as they scored 7 unreplied goals. Opara who was on the pitch for the entire duration of the match as his club inch closer to finishing the season on a scintillating version was happy to be back and doing what he knows how to do best. Speaking exclusive to www.cmsportz.blogspot.com after the game on Sunday, the Nigeria U23 player stated "My teammates and coach were happy with my performance in the match. Playing 90mins in my first match since the International break and after the minor injury lay off gives me more confidence as the league reach the home stretch". ''My focus is to feature in the remaining 3 round of matches and finish the season...

Dream Team Keeps Dream Alive

The Nigeria U23 team defeated Libya's U23 4-0 to progress to the next round of the 2019 U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as Osimhen grabs hattrick. It was a resounding victory for the Dream team as they overturned a two goal deficit suffered in the first leg. Coach Imama Amapakabo left no stone unturned as he rejigged the squad that went down in Tunis by drafting in Francis Uzoho, Osimhen, Chidozie Awaziem and Valentine Ozoruwafor from the Super Eagles to the Olympics team. It was a tedious opening 20 minutes as the Dream team struggle to find the openings while the Libyans  comfortably held on to their defensive strategies in the scorching 33°c weather temperature in Asaba. Taiwo Awoniyi failed to capitalize on a gifted opportunity in the 14 minutes as the Libyan goalkeeper parried Nwakali's freekick to his path at a close range. But Osimhen broke the deadlock in the half-hour mark when he pounce on a rebound as the Libyan goalkeeper failed to deal with another Nwak...
