G12 FC denies misleading report by LSFA

The Management of G12 Football Club has debunked and categorised as misleading the claims that the chairman of the club Mr. Hakeem Mustapha (a.k.a Gattuso) was suspended by Lagos Football Association (LSFA) for one year in a matter related to the ongoing Nigeria Ex-Internationals Cup.

Tagged as clandestine move to tarnished the image of the club the club secretary Joel Edeaghe stated that “neither G12 FC nor the club chairman participated in the competition”

In a letter addressed to LSFA Secretariat and copied to other relevant agencies the club emphasized that the purported  statement issued by LSFA has caused reputational damage and distress to the club chairman Hakeem Mustapha (a.k.a Gattuso) and in extension to the image  of G12 FC brand.

The club statement says “the attention of G12 Football Club and Mr. Hakeem Mustapha (a.k.a Gattuso), chairman of G12 Football Club, has been drawn to the purported press release issued by Lagos State Football Association (LSFA) titled “LSFA suspends G-12 CEO for one year”, in relation to the ongoing Nigeria Ex-Internationals Cup.

“This slanderous report stated that the CEO of G12 FC, Mr. Hakeem Mustapha (a.k.a., GATTUSO), instigate their club fans towards violence where various forms of charms and weapons were brandished”.

“This press release by the LSFA which has been published and circulated by several media platforms has caused serious disrepute and distress to the reputation of Mr. Hakeem Mustapha (a.k.a Gattuso) and in extension to the image  of G12 FC brand.”

“To set the record straight, G12 Football club did not participate in the ongoing Nigeria Ex-Internationals Cup nor did the CEO of the club Mr. Hakeem Mustapha (a.k.a Gattuso) adopted a team during the competition. But to our bewilderment and dismay the LSFA make up the name of G-12 FC and that of Mr. Hakeem Mustapha (a.k.a Gattuso) in their clandestine press release in relation to the activities of the competition.”

“Sequel to the above, we hereby demand that the name of Mr. Hakeem Mustapha (a.k.a Gattuso)  and G12 FC be retracted from the concocted and defamatory press release issued by the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), follow by a public apology letter to be published and circulated on leading media outlets within the next 48 hours.”

“The G12 FC is a brand built on high principle, moral and ethical conduct prominent as a standard bearer while fostering a brighter future for young footballers. The club will not stand akimbo while the G12 FC brand and its CEO are associated with guttersnipe, scruffy conduct.”

More troubling, however, is the absence of official clarification. All efforts to reach Browns Nigeria officials for confirmat...

Nigeria need to adopt symmetry approach across the national teams- coach Michael Nsien
