Rohr's contract extension a reward for mediocrity, Wale Ajayi warns NFF

The pioneer of a foremost Social media group platform, Nigeria Sports Mouthpiece (NSM Rebranded) Wale Ajayi rebuked the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the new contract extension been offered to the Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr.

In an interactive session with CMSPORTS correspondent on NSM Whatsapp group platform that has leading sports Journalists and astute sport Administrators including top NFF chieftains as members, the Canadian based ace journalist reiterates that Gernot Rohr does not deserve a new contract having failed woefully at the World cup in 2018.

"There should be a benchmark of performance at any major sporting event like the World cup. Before Rohr, every other Nigerian coaches apart from Onigbinde made it beyond the first round of the world cup. So if Rohr who is on $55,000 dollars monthly failed to surpass this record, he has no reason staying on the job.
The NFF failed to sack him and gave him a lifeline at the Nations cup where he won bronze.
Augustine Eguaveon who to me is our worst National team coach ever, once won bronze at the Nations Cup so Gernot has done nothing special and should be asked to leave now!"

When asked if the clause imposed in the proposed contract extension a bait by the NFF to force the German tactician to the exit door, Ajayi, who is known for his stern position on tropical issues warns that NFF should desist from what he called 'frustration strategy' and nip the matter in the bud.

"NFF is playing smart with Rohr. They shot themselves on the foot by agreeing to extend his contract just before the world cup. That was their worst undoing. Now, you must know that every contract comes with fresh clauses. The content of that contract is concealed in secrecy but the much I can tell you is that the NFF will pay from their noses if they sack Rohr before the expiration of his contract. That explains this strategy.

What the NFF is doing is what I will like to call FRUSTRATION STRATEGY. They want to make life unbearable for Rohr so that he will leave on his own volition. That way, they won't pay the monies as contained in the clause".

"There are very good coaches everywhere. Whoever the NFF thinks is best suited for the job they should employ. The issue of employing coaches is one problem the NFF has carefully ceded to the PWC (Price Water Company) it is their  job to look at the list of possible candidates, screen them and appoint that person they deem better qualified for the job. This is the NFF own way of shifting the blames away from their heads. I know that this strategy too will backfire. Let's hope they get it right though".

Egypt 2025: Flying Eagles seek bronze compensation against Young Pharaohs

Seven-time champions Nigeria and hosts and four-time champions Egypt will both fight hard for the bronze medals when they clash in the third-place match of the ongoing Africa U20 Cup of Nations finals in Cairo on Sunday. Both teams were rated by pundits to emerge from their semi-final clashes, but the result went the other way and they are now due to play the losers’ final at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium in downtown Cairo. Morocco and South Africa will tango in a repeat of the 1997 Final, which the Atlas Cubs won 1-0 in Meknes. It is the fifth time that Nigeria, who won the title in 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 2005, 2011 and 2015 will be playing for the bronze medals. For Egypt, it will be the fourth time. Both have won the bronze medals three times previously. Also, both Nigeria and Egypt contested the 2005 Final in Cotonou, with the Flying Eagles coming out top following a 2-0 win. Isaac Promise (of blessed memory) scored both goals. As hosts in 1995, after losing their semi final tie...
