Nigeria’s 🇳🇬 Anu Opeyori retains Africa’s Badminton crown

Nigeria’s number 1 badminton player, Anuoluwa Opeyori has won his third African title in a space of five years to assert himself as Africa’s undisputable champion.  Anuoluwa Opeyori, Africa’s undisputable Badminton champions  His latest victory came in South Africa at the weekend as he beat Mauritius Julien Paul 18-21, 21-13, 21-18 to win the gold medal of the Men’s singles of the All Africa Senior Championships. It was not an easy feat as the Nigerian delegation was psychologically drained even before the championship owing to non-issuance of travel visa to four of the ten-man team.  With his latest win, Opeyori has added to earlier titles won in Port Harcourt, Nigeria in 2019 and Kampala, Uganda in 2022.  He had also won the Men’s Singles title at the African Games in Morocco in 2019 to make it four titles in five years! Nigeria a nd 50 other countries including host United States of America will be featuring at the 18th edition of the annual Homeless World Cup tournament. The Sacramento 2023 event will be delivered by the Homeless World Cup Foundation in coordination with California State University, Sacramento and the Homeless World Cup’s US partner – Street Soccer USA. The Street Soccer tournament will take place from 08 July to 15 July 2023 with a welcome event on the evening of Friday 07 July, then the opening parade and games will start Saturday 08 July. Ladegbuwa FC gear up preparation for Viareggio football tournament, Italy

Nigeria Nationwide League One side Ladegbuwa FC are intensifying preparation for this year's edition of Viareggio Youth campootball Tournament in Italy. The Viareggio Cup World Football Tournament also known as Coppa Carnevale, is a youth association football tournament held annually in the commune of Viareggio, Italy and it's considered as one of the most important youth football tournaments in the world. Ladegbuwa FC will be competing in the 2023 NLO season and would be hoping to better their last season's debut performance in the league. In preparation for the new season the team management are planning to expose the players to series of football events to keep them in good shape and afford them an opportunity to horn their skills. Benjamin Victor Voted as Ladegbuwa FC Player of the Month

Versatile defender Benjamin Victor has been voted Ladegbuwa FC  player of the month for the month of November.  Benjamin won the award with the highest number of votes cast  beating Thomas Omotosho and Uchenna Ekenna to the prize money award. The defender has been in sensational form in recent time and was also in contention for the award during the month of October, losing to Oriyomi Biliaminu. The award comes with a cash prize of ₦5,000 and was presented by the club secretary, Folami Salami. Oriyomi scoop maiden Ladegbuwa FC POTM Award

Biliaminu Oriyomi has emerged as Ladegbuwa FC Player of the Month for October 2022. The player becomes the first player to win the award as this is the first edition in the club's history. The mercurial midfielder was on top of his game during the month of October with three appearances backed with exceptional performances in each of the games. He amassed 70% of votes,  pipping Benjamin Victor and Tosin Adekoya to the prize. The award comes with a prize gift of N5,000 which was presented to the player by the club's Marketing Director, Adebayo Kujore.  Adebayo emphasized that this is a new initiative by the club management to motivate and inspire players to perform better. Aminu Kurfi: The man made for the biggest tasks

He has delivered when it truly matters. He doesn't shy away from responsibilities, he takes up the task and beats all expectations. He is Alhaji Aminu Kurfi, the man many love to call Balele. Attention Honourable Sports Minister, the time to 'ADOPT A CLUB IS NOW'! Let me start this piece by first defining the word 'Unbound'. It simply means not bound together,  release, separate, not fastened together, not confined, freedom and so much more.  In this context, Unbound means freedom, proliferation, opening the space for private investors to come in and operate in an environment that is conducive, accommodating and appreciative.  The Nigeria professional football league as it is today, is a 20-clubs league format that has 95 percent government owned clubs and just 5percent privately owned clubs.  What this means is that government plays a huge impact in what goes on within and around the league, leaving our football at the mercy of some politicians who see football as a political tool that has to be managed by their political loyalists, who inturn know that the only way they can keep their jobs is by getting results at all costs.  Disadvantages of gover...
