Edo 2020 National Sports Festival Postponed

The Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development in conformity with the directive from Mr. President is postponing the National Sports Festival (NSF). President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the postponement of the National Sports Festival, Edo 2020 as a precautionary move against COVID-19 spread. The President’s decision followed the close monitoring and updates on COVID-19 in Nigeria and across the world. The Minister of Youth and Sports Development Mr. Sunday Dare, who is in Edo state, ahead of the National Sports Festival (NSF) to ascertain the level of preparations for the national event, has praised  the Edo state government for the turn around in facilities within a few months adding that they have raised the bar high for hosting of sporting events in Nigeria. NOC PRESENTS GIFT TO OLYMPIAN

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has recognized and offered a reward to world number one wrestler in the 57kg category, Odunayo Adekuruoye. The gift, an iphone 11 pro, mobile phone was presented on behalf of Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel, President of Nigeria Olympic Committee, by the NOC Secretary General, Olabanji Oladapo to the World  No. 1 ranked wrestler in the women's 57kg category, Odunayo Adekuoroye, at the NOC Secretariat,  Lagos. The African champion climbed to the pinnacle of international wrestling ranking after she defended her title at the African Wrestling championship in Algeria. In her response, the world number one thanked the NOC for the gesture, which she described as part of the tonic to ginger her for excellence at the Olympics but also plead for support through prayers in her endeavour. Odunayo Adekuruoye is preparing to win her first medal at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan at her third attempt.

Incessant killing of harmless citizens by SARS; how safe are we?

The recent killing of Remo Stars FC of Sagamu assistant captain, Tiyamiyu Kazeem, by the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ogun State, has led to outrage and outcry in the country with citizens calling for the government to call uniformed men to order.
