FIFA PARTNERS HOMELESS WORLD CUP FOUNDATION


The world football governing body FIFA have signed a partnership agreement with the Homeless World Cup Foundation (HWCF), a global networking foundation that brings together nearly 70 grassroot organisations that are using football to tackle homelessness and social isolation around the world. 

This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the Homeless World Cup Foundation in its mission to challenge existing social perceptions and Improve people's lives globally. 

The partnership agreement was announced by FIFA president Gianni Infatino who noted that FIFA shares the view of the HWCF.

Infantino said “I am delighted to share that, with 50 days to go until the next edition of the Homeless World Cup, FIFA has signed an agreement to partner with the Homeless World Cup Foundation (HWCF) in organising annual women's and men's tournaments aimed at helping homeless people to change their lives.

“The #HomelessWorldCup is a perfect example of how football can bring people together to challenge existing social perceptions and improve people's lives. FIFA is excited to contribute, because we share the view of the Homeless World Cup Foundation that football is a force for good, and starting from the upcoming edition in Seoul, FIFA will contribute in ensuring that this tournament continues to make a real impact that supports homeless people all across the world”.

Meanwhile, the Director of Team Nigeria to the Homeless World Cup, Yomi Kuku, has praised Homeless World Cup President, Mel Young, for his efforts in securing the partnership with FIFA.

“This partnership will help amplify the message and impact of the Homeless World Cup, bringing attention to the important work being done to support homeless and vulnerable individuals through football.

“Also it is pleasing to know that the upcoming Homeless World Cup games will be broadcast on FIFA+, which I believe would provide global reach and exposure for the tournament and increased visibility for the social causes and issues addressed by the Homeless World Cup.

The upcoming edition of the Homeless World Cup, from September 21 to 28, 2024 to be held in Seoul, South Korea will bring together 60 teams across 49 countries, comprising of 40 teams in the men's tournament and 20 teams in the women's tournament with over 500 players on parade.The tournament will be jointly broadcast on FIFA+.

Dream Team Keeps Dream Alive

The Nigeria U23 team defeated Libya's U23 4-0 to progress to the next round of the 2019 U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as Osimhen grabs hattrick. It was a resounding victory for the Dream team as they overturned a two goal deficit suffered in the first leg.
