Heartland Vs Plateau United Preview: The Naze Millionaires seeking important home win

Heartland FC and Plateau United will compete for the second time in the ongoing season in one of the Nigeria Premier Football League slated for Wednesday, February 28th at the Awka City Stadium.

The Peace Boys who were the league champions in 2017 won the first leg 1-0 in Jos for their season's first home win that later extended to 10 straight victories before their fans. The streak was halted last weekend when a resilient Shooting Stars got a goalless draw in Jos after surviving a late penalty kick decision.

Heartland FC have not actually hit the ground running since the beginning of the season but they showed a hint of what to see henceforth with a fantastic display against league leaders, Lobi Stars who sweated before getting a goal that finally broke the Naze Millionaires from Goalkeeper Darlington Ovunda's mistake. He had performance to be proud of with strings of key saves before that error.

Both teams had contrasting results in their last fixtures with Plateau United playing a draw at home while Heartland were pinned 1-0 in Lafia by Lobi Stars.

The Naze Millionaires defeated the Peace Boys 1-0 in their last visit to Owerri in 2022 and they will hope for a repeat of that as they strive to rejig their season.

Heartland FC showed they meant business this term moving straightaway from Lafia to Awka, their new home with the whole contingent. About five more players joined with the exception of Christian Weli who was given permission to return to Owerri due to personal reasons.

The build up to the game got a morale boost with the peace parley on Monday night among the Heartland FC management, technical crew and other officials including the club's supporters club where the head coach, Christian Obi and General Manager, Promise Nwachukwu asked for the forgiveness of all football stakeholders in the State for the team to forge ahead.

Heartland head coach, Christian Obi acknowledged that good results may be hard to get where peace does not reign while the General Manager harped on good team spirit among all in the club for the Naze Millionaires to stage a comeback in a disappointing season thus far.

More troubling, however, is the absence of official clarification. All efforts to reach Browns Nigeria officials for confirmat...

Nigeria need to adopt symmetry approach across the national teams- coach Michael Nsien

Former Nigerian youth International Michael Nsien has highlighted the need for Nigeria to adopt a uniform pattern across the National teams for smooth transition of players and to achieve a visible success. You have to have culture that buys in or accept a job based on that quality of transition. My intention are to be successful and to win games 100% but also, how do we transition players to the senior national team base on our principle, our style of play, the discipline line that we want to play within and our playing methodology. I am not sure that cohesion is in the Nigeria football setup, from top to the bottom, that the coaches...
