Dr. Bishir Gambo expresses the desire to revamp Sports in Katsina State

Katsina State Commissioner for Sports and Social Development, Hon. Bishir Gambo Saulawa has reiterated his commitment to ensuring the development of sports in the State. The newly appointed Commissioner affirms his readiness to set the ball rolling for the implementation of his plans to revamp and give Sports a new facelift as he called on all stakeholders and cooperate bodies to partner with the Ministry.

According to Hon. Saulawa Sports is crucial in the developmental progress of Katsina State because it has the human capacity to become a trendsetter in the country.

He said  "Once again I will like to express my gratitude to our Executive Governor,  HE Rt. Hon Aminu Bello Masari, for the opportunity bestowed on me to serve as a Commissioner under his leadership. His Administration has invested heavily in all sectors including sports.


"Sports has proven to be a useful instrument to engage youths in creativity and talents exhibition,  job creations and also serve as a tool to drive positive narrative in the society when earnestly harnessed.


"My objective is to consolidate on the existing structure and also look inward to unravel new adventures. We need to introduce more sports in our curriculum that I  believe will impact positively both on education and sporting aspect of our children's developmental phase.


"Our traditional sports must also not be left behind as we need to exert our authority on areas that we have an edge and that is why we need more cooperative bodies to partner with us in this journey to compliment the good work of our governor.


"We finished 33rd on the medals table in the last National Sports Festival, how can we improve on that in the next Edition in Edo state? Just as I said  we need to revamp our Sports and I am happy that this is all in tandem with one of His Excellency's cardinal agendas, using sports as a tool for social development."
