GS Magna Talent Hunt Lives Up To Billing as Teams Showcase Young Talents

The maiden edition of GS Magna Future Stars scouting program is living up to its pre-tournament billings as young players exhibit exhilarating talent, skills and determinations.  




The under-19 and under-16 youths tournament kicked off on Monday at the Lagacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere with each category having 8 and 6 participating teams respectively.


After two round of group matches played in the under-19 category, Box2box FC sits comfortably at the summit of group A,  while 36 Lion Football Club and Dominion Hotspur FC with 4 points each maintain a joint leadership of group B.


Matches played so far


Group A MD1

In the opening match of the tournament on Monday, Box2box FC defeated FC Bethel by 2 goals to nill while, Broad City FC outsmarted Smart City FC by 4 goals to one to complete the Group A MD1 fixtures.


Group B MD1

In group B, it was a no victory no vanquished battle affairs between the four teams as 36 Lion vs Dominion Hotspur played out a 2 all draw while Team 360 also drew with Utility Sports club 1 all.


Match Day 2

The 2nd round of group matches on Tuesday saw FC Bethel bettered their Match Day1 performance defeating Broad City FC by a lone goal while Box2box FC were held to a barren draw by Smart City FC. 


Current Situation


With this results Box2box FC leads group A with 4 points while Broad City FC and FC Bethel are joint 2nd with 3 points each, Smart City FC are last with 1 point. 


In group B, 36 Lion FC and Dominion Hotspur FC are on 4 points each after defeating Team 360 FC and Utility Sports club respectively by a lone goal condemning both teams, Team 360 and Utility Sports, to 1 point apiece and rooted bottom of the group.


With the last group of matches billed for Thursday and Friday, soccer fans are in for an exciting and entertaining football as the two groups go down the wire to determines its eventually winners.


Meanwhile as the under-19 boys takes a break on Wednesday, the under-16 teams will take to the pitch with Dominion Hotspur U-16 taking on South West Selected in the first match of the day. 


Team 360 U-16 will slug it out with Box2box Boys while 36 Lion boys and 

HaaSports Academy will conclude wednesday game fixtures.

 

Speaking after the second round of matches, Tobi Alabi expressed satisfaction with what he have seen so far, saying Nigeria has a lot of talented and young footballers that with right management can compete in any league across the globe. 

He said he is looking forward to see the under 16 teams.

" With what I have seen on display at the under 19 category,  I can't what to see what is on offer in the U16 category", he concluded.
