Enyimba bows to Kwara United supremacy in Ilorin

There was serious jubilation on Wednesday evening at the Kwara state stadium as Kwara United recorded a 1-0 win over visiting Enyimba in rescheduled NPFL match day 2 encounter.

Victory over Enyimba was Kwara United first home win this season in the NPFL having played a 1-1 draw against Akwa United last week in what was a disappointing result.

Kwara United goalkeeper Dele Aiyenugba once again proved himself as one of the best goalies in the country after keeping second clean sheet against his former club where he made his name.

Harmony Boys started the match impressively and it took them only five minutes for Stephen Jude to score after connecting perfectly with a superb pass from Michael Ohanu.

Ohanu almost scored the second goal for Kwara United three minutes later, but his shot was parried away by Enyimba goalie John Noble.

Enyimba mounted serious pressure in the second half looking for all possible ways to restore parity, but they would have the wood work to thank at the death for Gata not to score the second goal for Kwara United after a superb counter attack.

The match eventually ended 1-0 in favour of the Harmony Boys at the Kwara state stadium in Ilorin.

Kwara United coach expressed satisfaction with his wards' performance against Enyimba claiming that there is room for improvement.

"My players were relaxed against Akwa United in our first home game and that was the reason they faced Enyimba will will full strengths and thanks to God for us to have gotten the three needed points," Biffo explained.

Kwara United are now occupying ninth position on the NPFL standings and the Harmony Boys will face Ifeanyi Ubah in Ilorin this coming Sunday in next game.

Dream Team Keeps Dream Alive

The Nigeria U23 team defeated Libya's U23 4-0 to progress to the next round of the 2019 U23 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers as Osimhen grabs hattrick. It was a resounding victory for the Dream team as they overturned a two goal deficit suffered in the first leg. Coach Imama Amapakabo left no stone unturned as he rejigged the squad that went down in Tunis by drafting in Francis Uzoho, Osimhen, Chidozie Awaziem and Valentine Ozoruwafor from the Super Eagles to the Olympics team. It was a tedious opening 20 minutes as the Dream team struggle to find the openings while the Libyans  comfortably held on to their defensive strategies in the scorching 33°c weather temperature in Asaba. Taiwo Awoniyi failed to capitalize on a gifted opportunity in the 14 minutes as the Libyan goalkeeper parried Nwakali's freekick to his path at a close range. But Osimhen broke the deadlock in the half-hour mark when he pounce on a rebound as the Libyan goalkeeper failed to deal with another Nwak...
