Delta FA Election: Nobody denied Edema Fuludu the right to contest for Chairmanship- Ibrahim Gusau

Nigeria Football Federation executive committee member Ibrahim Gusau has stated that Edema Fuludu was not disenfranchised the right to contest for chairmanship position nor coarse to settle vice Chairman positionduring the just concluded election held in Stephen Keshi stadium, Asaba, Delta state.

Ibrahim Gusau, NFF Executive Committee Member

In an exclusive interview with CMSports Gusau said:

"When we saw the turn around of event in Delta state FA, as leaders, we tried to call people that are concern to advise them to sit down and see how they can be together because nobody can come from anywhere and decide for the people of Delta. We only participated there to advise them on what to do on how to move the game of football forward.

"People were given the chance to participate (in the election), there was a fair process and at the end of the day we get new executives for the Delta state FA, led by Kenneth Nwaomucha as the Chairman.

The chairman of the chairmen, Gasau, debunk the rumour that he arm-twist Fuludu from contesting for the position of the chairman nor endorse the candidacy of anybody in the event leading to the election.

"Nobody disqualified him (Edema Fuludu) and he was not denied the right to contest for the chairmanship. It is for the Delta people to vote for their choice candidate and the people that voted on the election day were all Deltans.

Gusau advised Fuludu to accept reality and should stop fabricating stories.

"Right from the day we started this struggle have you heard any group of major football stakeholders in Delta state that come out vehemently to say No, what is done to Edema is not right? He served as the Acting chairman when the erstwhile Delta FA Chairman was not participating and was given the opportunity to serve.

"As far as we are concerned we are happy that at the end of the day the right thing was done, and we got a new executive Delta state Football Association that will move the game of football forward in the state and we are looking forward to support the new board."

Egypt 2025: Flying Eagles seek bronze compensation against Young Pharaohs

Seven-time champions Nigeria and hosts and four-time champions Egypt will both fight hard for the bronze medals when they clash in the third-place match of the ongoing Africa U20 Cup of Nations finals in Cairo on Sunday. Both teams were rated by pundits to emerge from their semi-final clashes, but the result went the other way and they are now due to play the losers’ final at the 30 June Air Defence Stadium in downtown Cairo. Morocco and South Africa will tango in a repeat of the 1997 Final, which the Atlas Cubs won 1-0 in Meknes. It is the fifth time that Nigeria, who won the title in 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 2005, 2011 and 2015 will be playing for the bronze medals. For Egypt, it will be the fourth time. Both have won the bronze medals three times previously. Also, both Nigeria and Egypt contested the 2005 Final in Cotonou, with the Flying Eagles coming out top following a 2-0 win. Isaac Promise (of blessed memory) scored both goals. As hosts in 1995, after losing their semi final tie...
