It was a scintillating performance by Aruna Qadri of Nigeria and Ibrahimi Diaw of Senegal as both players entertained the cheering crowd at the ongoing 2019 ITTF Africa cup in Lagos, Nigeria. The game saw Ibrahimi Diaw, who is making his debut in the tournament give, top seed Quadri a good run for his money.
Indeed with quality player like Ibrahimi Diaw coming through the ranks, Africa Table Tennis is rest assured the future is bright.
Diaw won the first set to send torrid signal of the evening to come for Aruna Qadri. But as expected Qadri bounced back in the 2nd set with 11-7 to level 1-1. Qadri won the 3rd set comfortably only for Diaw to claimed the 4th set and drew level again on 2-2.
The keenly contested game saw both players tied 3-3 heading to the final set which Qadri eventually won. The game was a show of skill, pattern, resolute and composition.
Qadri enjoyed unflitching support of the crowd as he display a masterstroke to beat the young Senegalese Diaw and book his name in the semi-finals.
A visibly delighted Qadri said after the game that he is very happy to overcome the tenacity and powerful display of the senegalese.
