SEYI AKINWUNMI, THE EPITOME OF PROGRESS


Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi is the 1st Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation. He was appointed Vice President of the Federation in 2014 and got re-elected in 2018 with a wide margin of 41-2 against his opponent.
Equally, Seyi Akinwunmi is the incumbent Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA). He was elected for his first term in 2011 and ever since then the LSFA has been witnessing tremendous achievement up till date.

A goal getter and pacesetter with penchant for Sports development, particularly the grassroot, Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi through his initiative The Ekofootball Vision has rebranded football excellently in the State of Excellence.

In 2012, under his leadership the LSFA hosted the 1st ever International business of football seminar in Nigeria tagged Soccerex Lagos Seminar which was attended by 748 local and international participants.

His 'Seyi Akinwunmi U-13 Football tournament' as serve as a measure not just to discover talent and develop sport in the state but also to bring succor and hope to the less privileged even beyond Lagos state. The 2nd editions of the tournament  had Scholarship granted to 24 kids aside from the Prize for the winners and also the tournament extend its olive branch to the Internally Displaced Person (IDP) pupils of Agimo Lagema Military Cantonment Primary School, Biu from Borno State.

Through the Ekofootball vision under the supervision of Seyi Akinwunmi, the LSFA have also successfully hosted Ekofootball beach fiesta which have seen the likes of Freestan and Stationary Stores emerged as the Champions at different times.

The Lagos state FA Cup

The LSFA Cup is arguably the best FA cup tournament in Nigeria. Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi ensured some level of transparency and orderliness to the competition along side unbiase and equal opportunity giving to the Academy clubs in the state which has given LSFA a nod ahead of its counterpart in other states. The transparency and credibility of Akinwunmi's led LSFA board has attracted different sponsors to the LSFA Cup at different stages including Winners Golden Bet company. While some State FA struggles to organize a hitch-free FA cup, Lagos state stands head and shoulders above the rest.
A total number of 95 clubs enter the draw for this year's edition of Winners Golden Bet/Lagos FA Cup, as Smart City FC, coast home with trophy eventually. The colourful final was witnessed by dignitaries across the state and across ethnic and religious line as it had in attendance Sports Administrators, Obas, Seriki, Nollywood stars, hip hop artists etc.

Seyi Akinwunmi dynamism and administrative astute encompass his tenure as the LSFA Chairman.
In the year 2000, he was appointed as Honorary Legal Adviser to LSFA and he has in the last fourteen years been actively involved both financially and morally in football development and in grassroots clubs.

In 2012, he served on the adhoc committee for restructuring the Nigeria National League and subsequently as a pioneer member of the Board of the League Management Company.

Achievements will always speak for the archivers and Seyi Akinwunmi's milestone achievements has position him once again as the front runner for the Lagos State Football Association election billed for 27th May 2019.
Returning Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi as the Chairman of LSFA would be an endorsement of a progressive leader whose leadership prowess and sagacity has positioned Lagos on the horizon in the last couple of years.
As the NFF 1st President,  Barr. Seyi Akinwunmi will continue to use the influence of his office to strategically place sport development in the state in a spot light.

Seyi Akinwunmi is the key and bedrock for further success in LSFA.
