EAGLES SOAR AGAINST EGYPT

Paul Onuachu made history becoming Nigeria fastest goal scorer has Super Eagles beats the Pharaoh of Egypt 1-0 in International friendly match at Stephen Keshi stadium, Asaba

The match was part of an early preparation for the summer AFCON 2019 as Eagles test their mettle against the tournament's host, one of the favourites and the most successful team of Africa's biggest football showpiece.

Fans had barely settled down on their seat when Onuachu scored in the eighth seconds which will go down in the record book as the 2nd fastest goal in the history of international football behind Lucas Podolski's six seconds goal in another equally friendly match against Ecuador in 2013.

Egypt were without their talismanic Liverpool's striker Mohamed Salah who was omitted to give room for other players while Nigeria equally used the match to hand new player their debut.

There was a significant amount of confidence from the Pharaoh of Egypt going to the match has Nigeria have struggled to beat Egypt in the 29 years. The 1-0 scoreline ended a 29-year spell on Nigeria in encounters with Egypt. Nigeria last defeated Egypt on March 5, 1990 at the Africa Cup of Nations in Algiers. Rashidi Yekini scored the solitary goal in the eighth minute.
Onuachu lashes on to a superb fling ba as the Midjilland prolific striker open his goal scoring accout with Eagles in a scintillating version.
The early goal also put an end to Egypt’s unbeaten streak under the Mexican coach, Javier Aguirre who has had four straight wins and a drawn game with Niger Republic at the weekend.

In the post match conference coach Gernot Rorh has this to say:

''It was not a good match but a great match, when you play against such a team like Egypt which is for me one of the favourites for the AFCON and you can win the game, it is a great match for us.

''All the time we have to improve but let's at first enjoy this wonderful result. They did so well, we scored a wonderful goal so let us enjoy and then we will analyze tomorrow this game and to work on the things we have to make better.

''We scored a goal very early. I think this is the earliest goal I have seen as a coach and it's coming from the kickoff. It was a planned goal you can say that and it was very nice."

More troubling, however, is the absence of official clarification. All efforts to reach Browns Nigeria officials for confirmat...
