The Battle of The Eagles

It is going to be a battle of the Eagles as two Eagles, the Nigerian Flying Eagles lock horns with The Eagles of Mali in the semi-final match of the ongoing CAF U20 Nations cup.

The 7-times African champions, Flying Eagles who qualifies for the semi-final stage of the tournament after beating Niger Republic in their last group stage match following a win and draw each against Burundi and Amajita of South Africa respectively will be looking to put one past a more resolute and coordinated Malian team.

Mali, the 2003 2nd Runners-Up are upbeat and confident going into the tie after finishing 2nd in Group B with 6points, scored and conceded 2 goals apiece, behind  Senegal 9points and above a more fancied Ghana and Burkina Faso teams.
The Mali's Eagles edged out the Flying Eagles 1-0 at the Quarter final stage of the 1999 world cup hosted by Nigeria, which they eventually finished 2nd Runners-up and will be hoping to book their berth in the finals for the first time in the tournament's history after 12 appearances.

The Flying Eagles spur with individual brilliancy and raw skills but lack overall killer instincts will need to be more effective and proficient in front of goal. They squandered mouthwatering goalscoring opportunities in the group stage matches which means they could only account for 3 goals after three matches, a statistic that betray their goal attempts and overall performance in the tournament so far.

A former Nigeria U-20 coach and current Tanzania National team coach Emmanuel Amunike has warned the team to play has a unite and be ready to take their chances in the match.
Amunike, ex-Barcelona star who scored a brace for Super Eagles at 1994 Nations cup to ensure victory for Nigeria, is among the CAF/FIFA understudy delegate at the ongoing Youth Championship stated that the Flying Eagles should expect a tough duel against the Eagles of Mali.

At this crucial stage any complacent will be punished hence the Paul Aigbogun side team has to be at their best every minute of the match if the Nigeria's Eagles has to fly above the Eagles of Mali.

More troubling, however, is the absence of official clarification. All efforts to reach Browns Nigeria officials for confirmat...
