Scrabble Takes Center Stage at Atunrase High School, Courtesy LSSMA

  The Lagos State Scrabble and Monopoly Association (LASSMA) has successfully launched a Scrabble and Monopoly Sport initiative at Atunrase Senior High School and Atunrase Junior High School, Surulere, Lagos. The LASSMA delegation, led by its Chairman, Engr. Monsuru Dipo Akanbi, a distinguished Alumnus of Atunrase Boys’ High School, included the Association’s vice-Secretary, Miss Oluwatosin Solademi, and Enoch Nwali the 2023 Africa Scrabble Champion. During the launch, the team educated the students on the fundamental principles and rules of the game, providing a comprehensive introduction to the world of Scrabble. Addressing journalists after the presentation, Engr. Monsuru Dipo Akanbi underscored the significance of introducing the Scrabble game to secondary schools, where untapped talent can be identified, nurtured, and developed for greater achievements in the future. Augustine Eguavoen started his fourth stint with the Super Eagles on a fabulous note, with the three-time African kings decimating Benin Republic’s Cheetahs 3-0 in Uyo on Saturday.  Coach Augustine Eguavoen says his squad “is on a momentum” as they countenance Tuesday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against the Amavubi of Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali. “We have the right mentality now, and the mood in camp is excellent. Everyone in camp is eager for us to pick the three points in Rwanda and stay firmly on top of the qualifying table. Kano Pillars beat Ikorodu city

Kano Pillars FC made a powerful statement in their opening fixture of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Ikorodu City. The match, played at their adopted home, the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina, saw the legendary captain Rabiu Ali produce a superb performance, scoring twice, while Mustapha Umar also found the net. The match kicked off with both teams showing early signs of intent but struggling to break each other down in the opening stages.   Daniel Amokachi  Nigeria football icon Daniel Amokachi has joined the #passforhome challenge ahead of 19th edition of the Homeless World Cup in Seoul, South Korea. The  1996 Atlanta Olympic Games gold medalist and former FA Cup winner with Everton of England will receive the ball from Italy and pass it over to England as he joins the like of Tottenham Hotspur and Korea superstar striker Heung-Min Son to pass the ball around the competing nations until it reaches the Korean capital a day before the competition is due to start. The 2024 Seoul Homeless World Cup will take place from 21st - 28th September at Hanyang University.  The #passforhome ball is on a mission to unite the world, starting in Edinburgh and making its way to Seoul for the 2024 Homeless World Cup. FIFA PARTNERS HOMELESS WORLD CUP FOUNDATION

The world football governing body FIFA have signed a partnership agreement with the Homeless World Cup Foundation (HWCF), a global networking foundation that brings together nearly 70 grassroot organisations that are using football to tackle homelessness and social isolation around the world.  This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the Homeless World Cup Foundation in its mission to challenge existing social perceptions and Improve people's lives globally.  The partnership agreement was announced by FIFA president Gianni Infatino who noted that FIFA shares the view of the HWCF.
