Volleyball: Taraba Spikers records first win at Division 2

Taraba Spikers were in their best form as they defeated Sword VC of Benue 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-22) on Day 3 of the 2022 National Division 2 League on Sunday. Host, Taraba Spikers thrilled the home fans with their spectacular display at the Jolly Nyame Stadium when they won the first set by 25-19 despite threats from Sword VC. The second set produced beautiful passes, blocks, spikes and defence but Taraba Spikers ran away with victory 25-20. In the 3rd set, Swords VC came out strong, getting vital points but lost concentration in the middle of the game as the fans of Taraba Spikers cheered their team to victory once more by 25-22. An elated head coach of Taraba Spikers, Peace Obi said the win against Swords VC was a crucial one adding that it would have been disastrous if they lost the game. Volleyball: Plateau Rocks pips Taraba Spikers in Jalingo

Plateau Rocks struggled to beat Taraba Spikers 3-1 (26-24, 21-25, 25-16, 25-12) on Day 2 of the ongoing 2022 National Division 2 League in Jalingo, Taraba State on Saturday. Established Plateau Rocks could not bulldoze Taraba Spikers as both teams were at each other's throats throughout the first set. Coach Rakiya Mohammed's team managed to win the first set by 26-24 points.  Taraba Spikers came out more determined in the second set winning 25-21 points before Plateau Rocks took the bull by the horn in the third and fourth set 25-16, 25-12 to win the game. The Head Coach of Plateau Rocks, Rakiya Mohammed praised the fighting spirit and resilience of her team. Amene promises first class NWFL Nationwide League

The General Co-ordinator of the Nigeria Women Football League Nationwide League, Sir Joe Amene, has promised a first class 2021/2022 NWFL Nationwide League season, which kicks off on Friday April 22 2022 at the Western Boys Stadium and the School of Health Technology, both in Benin City, Edo State. Commonwealth Games to Commence with GAPS Programme for Para Athletes

As part of preparations for Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) developed the GAPS (Gather, Adjust, Prepare and Sustain) programme for Para athletes that will participate in the Games. CGF is starting the programme with the Para Athletics, Para Table Tennis and Para Powerlifting. The objectives of GAPS is to offer emerging athletes and coaches from Commonwealth countries additional skills, knowledge and resources to become self-reliant and excel in sports, create effective, long term stakeholder partnerships, ensure inclusion and diverse participant representation, deliver a fully-funded GAPS program in each region of the Commonwealth. Nigeria is among the 13 out of 19 Commonwealth countries that have been selected for the GAPS programme. NOC HOLDS SEMINAR FOR WOMEN IN SPORTS

The Women Commission under the auspices of the Olympic Solidarity and the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) will hold a two day seminar for Women in Sports at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja from 12th-13th April, 2022.  The seminar is in two phases and designed to enhance the productivity of women in the administration and management of sports. The aim is to foster collaborations in communication and interpersonal relationships with mentors and sponsors while paving way for continued growth and success.
